The legal framework which will lead to the licensing of contractors is completed
The Minister for Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi has announced that the legal framework for the Contractors Licensing system has been completed. The Legal Notice will now be sent for the scrutiny of the European Commission so that applications can then be opened for contractors in the fields of demolition, excavation and construction.

Enforcement Results in 2023
During last year, 2023, the Building and Construction Authority Enforcement Officers conducted 10,457 inspections on construction sites. A number of these inspections were random inspections, while the remaining were inspections against a report from the public.

Demolition and Excavation Works to Stop for Summer in Tourist Areas
Demolition and excavation works will be banned from tourist areas between 15th June and 30th September 2023. This initiative which is being co-ordinated between the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) takes into account the inconvenience that construction sites have on the surrounding neighbourhood.

Invitation to a Public Consultation Meeting in Gozo on the Construction Industry Licensing Regulations
The Building and Construction Authority is developing new regulations for the Licensing of Contractors. The Authority is now inviting views from the contractors and other stakeholders in the construction industry on the drafted regulations.
