During last year, 2023, the Building and Construction Authority Enforcement Officers conducted 10,457 inspections on construction sites. A number of these inspections were random inspections, while the remaining were inspections against a report from the public.
From the total number of inspections carried, the BCA issued 332 notices of stop works and 667 fines related to construction infringements.
Meanwhile, the Maltese and Gozo islands are segregated into 3 regions, A, B and C, in which each region incorporates several inspectors.
The greatest number of inspections were made in Region A, due to the increase in construction works in this region. This region incorporates the localities of Sliema and St. Julians which are well-known localities in Malta for the increased number of construction sites, during the last years.
In view of these successful results in 2023, the BCA is committed that during 2024 it will increase the number of inspections to safeguard the third parties’ interests and increase the methodology quality of construction in Malta.
