The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is accepting applications from Warranted Lawyers and Periti to aid third parties (defined in Chapter 23 of the Laws of Malta) affected by construction developments nearby.

With reference to the publication of Legal Notice 38/2024 on the Government Gazette 21,198 on the 27th February, 2024, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) wishes to inform that the template for the declaration of insurance cover is now available for download on the BCA website.

The Minister for Justice and Reform in the Construction Sector Jonathan Attard, together with the Building and Construction Authority CEO, Jesmond Muscat, presented a number of legislative amendments that deal with various Legal Notices related to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Act.

The Energy Performance of Buildings (Amendment) Regulations, 2023, which were published on the 22nd December 2023 in part seek to provide additional clarity and detail to specific aspects outlined in the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations (S.L. 623.01).

The Building and Construction Authority recognized the achievements of more than 150 students who completed a course in the Energy Performance Rating of Dwellings in Malta (EPRDM). The course has led these students to become assessors and therefore consult the public on energy performance in residential buildings.

The Minister for Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi inaugurated the new offices of the Building and Construction Authority, the BCA in Marsa. During his speech, he explained that even though the Authority has been established for a short time, it has already done substantial work and is continuing to build on what has already been done.

The Faculty of Law of the University of Malta has completed the first phase of research on Construction Laws in Malta.

The change in the rules of the masons’ license which has been put up for Public Consultation, defines what skills a person must have to work as a mason in Malta. We want the training to ensure that both those who will apply for the license for the first time and those who have already obtained the license continue to improve their skills and are more aware of the best practices in the building sector.

The Chief Executive of the Building and Construction Authority notifies interested parties that the application process of the Contractors’ License will be open from the 24th of July till the 31st October. Applications can only be submitted online on www.bca.org.mt. The license required for the activity services in: a. Demolition; b. Excavation and Piling and c. Construction.
